I'm of two minds about that, informed by working for a small (200 person) company for two years.

One of the three cities we were in had swank offices. Good cubes, arranged well, not 'dilbert-land' crap. Everyone had lots of space. We had a garden in the back, a shower, plenty of electrical. The network wiring was done well with plenty of plugs for visitors.

In 2002 we got smacked by the economy. We'd let our client base become 90% telco, telco tanked and we were hurtin. The extra money we paid for the digs really hurt, then.

We might have had to close up shop regardless - but ... I would have rather squatted in a tin building than loose my job.

On the other hand - digs like that are going to attract talent and talent will keep you in business.

wow... I hope i can clean the drool off my keyboard. did I say wow yet?
